This week we’re focusing on—how you can turn M&A into opportunity. |
|
Hi Smiles Davis, |
In November, fashion startup Le Tote (founded just 8 years ago) acquired the century old department store Lord + Taylor. “Why?” you ask... Isn’t it the end of the department store? Retail Dive writes that Le Tote makes this strategic move to “erase the lines between online and in store, renting and buying.”
Much like the Amazon Whole Foods acquisition—this M&A move for Le Tote will bring new hybrid (in-person and online) experiences to customers. And at the heart of these types of acquisitions is the desire to take market share by surprising and delighting customers with new and more optimized experiences whether they are in-person or online.
This means marketers have a lot of work to do! AND the opportunity to re-imagine how business gets done. |
